Lloydminster RCMP charge multiple individuals following flight from police

On Jan. 13 2025, at approximately 3:00 p.m., Lloydminster RCMP received several 911 calls related to an erratic driver that struck several vehicles on the south side of Lloydminster. Officers located the vehicle, which had been reported stolen, and due to the risk posed to the public began pursuing the vehicle. During the pursuit the stolen vehicle struck an RCMP vehicle, resulting in no injuries to the officer.

A coordinated effort between Lloydminster RCMP, Maidstone RCMP, Kitscoty RCMP, Wilton Police, ALERT, SERT resulted in three individuals being take into custody and the stolen vehicle recovered.

A 15-year-old female, who cannot be named under the Youth Criminal Justice Act, has been charged with the following offences:

  • Flight from police
  • Assault on a Police Officer with a weapon
  • Dangerous operation of a motor vehicle
  • Impaired operation of a motor vehicle
  • Possession of stolen property over $5000

The youth was taken before a Justice of the Peace and released on a Release order. She is scheduled to appear in court on Feb. 11, 2025, at the Alberta Court of Justice in Lloydminster.

A 27-year-old male and a 30-year-old male, both residents of Lloydminster, were also charged with possession of stolen Property over $5000 and are scheduled to appear in court on Mar. 4, 2025, at the Alberta Court of Justice in Lloydminster. As their charges are not yet before the courts, the names of those charged cannot be released at this time.

"This was a very fluid situation and a collaboration between multiple police units in several jurisdictions brought this dangerous event to a conclusion without any injuries to police or the public" said Cst. Paul Ritchie of the Lloydminster RCMP General Investigations Section.
