RCMP respond to fatal two-vehicle collision

An individual has died following a two-vehicle collision in Upper Sackville, N.B.

On December 27, 2024, at approximately 11:30 a.m., members of the Sackville RCMP, Sackville Fire Department, Department of Transportation and Infrastructure, Department of Justice and Public Safety and Ambulance New Brunswick responded to a report of a two-vehicle collision on Route 940 in Upper Sackville.

The crash is believed to have occurred when a vehicle, travelling northbound, crossed the centreline and collided with a vehicle travelling southbound. The driver and sole occupant of the first vehicle, a 77-year-old man from Midgic, died at the scene as a result of his injuries. The driver and the occupant of the second vehicle were transported to hospital with what are believed to be minor injuries.

A New Brunswick RCMP Traffic Reconstructionist and a member of the New Brunswick Coroner's Office are assisting with the investigation. An autopsy will be scheduled to determine the driver's exact cause of death.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
