RCMP investigating after homicide victim’s cemetery monument vandalized

Meteghan RCMP Detachment is investigating after a cemetery monument for homicide victim Vernon Doucet was vandalized.

The Southwest Nova Major Crime Unit recently announced charges being laid in the homicide of Doucet, who died in hospital after being injured in a home invasion in February 2022.

On June 26, RCMP officers learned that a stone monument to Doucet had been removed from its location in the cemetery and spray painted.

It's believed that this incident is related to the recent announcement of charges.

Meteghan RCMP Detachment is investigating, with the assistance of the RCMP's Forensic Identification Section.
