Pictou County District RCMP investigates fatal collision at Mount William

Pictou County District RCMP is investigating a fatal collision that occurred on Hwy 106 at Mount William.

On August 11, at approximately 10:45 p.m., Pictou County District RCMP, fire services, and EHS responded to a report of a two-vehicle collision on Hwy. 106 between the Trenton connector and Granton exit. Both vehicles were fully engulfed in flames when first responders attended.

The driver of one vehicle and the driver and passenger of the other vehicle were confirmed deceased at the scene.

An RCMP collision reconstructionist attended this collision and the investigation, which is in its early stages, is ongoing.

At this point in the investigation, officers cannot provide further information about the vehicles involved or what lead to this collision. Anyone who witnessed the incident or who may have dashcam footage of the incident is asked to contact Pictou County District RCMP at 902-485-4333.

A section of highway 106 was closed for several hours, but has since reopened.

Our thoughts are with the victims' loved ones at this difficult time.
