Souris man remanded in custody after numerous threat investigations

November 19, 2024, Charlottetown Provincial Court – Tylar Weir of Souris PEI was in court to answer to numerous threats and extortion charges. Weir was the subject of six RCMP investigations that resulted in charges in connection to four victims, all known to him. He was also charged with failing to comply with a release order. The RCMP Provincial General Investigation Section began these investigations in September of 2024. On November 6, 2024, Weir was arrested at his home where police executed a search warrant and seized numerous electronic devices. He has been in custody since this arrest and today in Charlottetown Provincial Court he consented to stay in custody until his court matters are resolved.

Charges include:

1. Extortion

2. Fail to comply with a release order

3. Uttering threats x 6

12-month sentence on drug charges

November 19, 2024, Charlottetown, PE - On December 1st, 2023, the RCMP Provincial General Investigation Section (GIS) arrested Kyle Jenkins of Charlottetown at a targeted traffic stop. This arrest resulted from a three month investigation and Jenkins was charged with Possession of Methamphetamine for the Purpose of Trafficking. During the arrest, thirty grams of methamphetamine was seized. To put this in context, 0.01 grams is commonly considered one dose of methamphetamine. On November 18th, 2024, at Charlottetown Provincial Court, Kyle Jenkins was sentenced to 12 months in custody.

This investigation was completed jointly by the RCMP Provincial GIS Unit and the Queens District RCMP.
