Motorists: Drive with care in construction zones

November 14, 2024
Wolfville, Nova Scotia

News release

The Nova Scotia RCMP is urging motorists to drive with care and attention, especially in construction zones.

Between October 23 and November 12, Southwest Nova RCMP Traffic Services and Kings District RCMP issued 159 summary offence tickets to drivers on Hwy. 101 between Exit 10 and Exit 11. The vast majority of the tickets were issued for exceeding the posted speed limit near and in a construction zone.

"Officers are continuing increased enforcement initiatives in this area, but we're also appealing to motorists to slow down and pay attention for everyone's safety," says Sgt. Mike Carter, Southwest Nova RCMP Traffic Services. "The aggressive driving and inattention our officers see, particularly in this area, is alarming."

The RCMP reminds motorists that construction zones can be anywhere and at any time of year on our roadways, and drivers must slow down and pay careful attention when approaching or navigating construction areas. The construction work on Hwy. 101 in the Wolfville area is expected to continue into December.
