Forty-nine-year-old Keith Ledrew was arrested by Gander RCMP following a traffic stop that was conducted last night, November 7, 2024, in Glenwood.
At approximately 11:15 p.m., Gander RCMP stopped a vehicle having an illegible licence plate. The driver, Ledrew, who was the lone occupant of the vehicle, was operating the vehicle with an expired driver's licence. Officers observed contraband tobacco inside the truck and placed Ledrew under arrest. A further search of Ledrew and the truck resulted in the seizure of a quantity of cocaine and other items consistent with possession for the purpose of trafficking.
Ledrew showed signs of drug impairment and was transported to the James Paton Memorial Regional Health Centre in Gander where he provided blood samples as part of an impaired driving investigation. Officers await the results of the testing to determine if charges of impaired operation are appropriate.
Ledrew, who is currently before the court with two counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking a controlled substance, is charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking cocaine and two counts of failing to comply with a release order. He appeared in court today and was released from custody. His next appearance is set for November 19, 2024.
The investigation is continuing with other charges possible.
