Loon Lake RCMP: wanted male arrested

On September 12, 2024, Loon Lake RCMP received information that a wanted male was at a residence on Makwa Sahgaiehcan First Nation.

The male was wanted on warrants for offences including assault with a weapon and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.

Loon Lake RCMP obtained a warrant to enter the residence and, with the assistance of the Saskatchewan RCMP's Critical Incident Response Team, arrested the male.

An adult female was also arrested at the scene.

During subsequent investigation, officers located and seized two firearms, two machetes and a homemade conducted energy device in the residence.

As a result of continued investigation, 27-year-old Ethan Swiftwolfe and 41-year-old Rachel Kytwayhat from Makwa Sahgaiehcan First Nation are each charged with:

- one count, resist police officer, Section 129(a), Criminal Code;

- one count, possession of weapon contrary to order, Section 117.01(1), Criminal Code; and

- one count, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, Section 88(1), Criminal Code.

Swiftwolfe is charged with one additional count of possession of weapon contrary to order, Section 117.01(1), Criminal Code.

Both accused are scheduled to appear in Meadow Lake Provincial Court on September 16, 2024.
