Arrested – Cut Knife RCMP: man wanted after police seize 250 grams of cocaine

As a result of investigation, Cut Knife RCMP determined Willis Checkosis was in a residence on Poundmaker Cree Nation on November 14.

Officers obtained a warrant to enter the residence. As they approached, an adult male fled out of the residence into field behind it.

Cut Knife RCMP and Saskatchewan RCMP's Police Dog Services located him a short time later.

The male, identified as Willis Checkosis, was arrested on his outstanding warrant.

He is scheduled to appear in North Battleford Provincial Court on November 15, 2024.

Cut Knife RCMP: man wanted after police seize 250 grams of cocaine

On November 9, 2024, Cut Knife RCMP executed a search warrant at a residence on Poundmaker Cree Nation in relation to an ongoing trafficking investigation.

Officers located and seized approximately 250 grams of cocaine, trafficking paraphernalia, ammunition and weapons in the residence.

As a result of continued investigation, officers have charged 49-year-old Willis Checkosis from Poundmaker Cree Nation with:

  • one count, possession for the purpose of trafficking, Section 5(2), Controlled Drugs and Substances Act;
  • one count, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, Section 88, Criminal Code; and
  • one count, fail to comply with release order condition, Section 145(5)(a), Criminal Code.

A warrant has been issued for his arrest and Cut Knife RCMP are actively working to locate him.

Checkosis is described as approximately 6'1" and 195 lbs. He has dark brown hair and brown eyes. He has writing tattooed on both his left arm and on his left fingers.
