Matthew Alan Craswell was re-arrested on Sunday, August 11, 2024 and appeared in Provincial Court this morning, Monday, August 12th.

Information came forward to police from the public regarding an incident that occurred in April 2024, while Craswell was teaching. This information from the public enabled police to lay new charges and Craswell is now being held at the Provincial Correctional Centre until August 14th for a show cause hearing. He appeared in Provincial Court this morning where charges including sexual exploitation, sexual assault and sexual interference were formally sworn.

"Police fully appreciate how difficult it can be for anyone to come forward to report crimes of this nature," said Chief Superintendent Kevin Lewis, PEI RCMP Commanding Officer. "But thanks to information provided to PEI RCMP we were able to take the actions we did yesterday, and re-arrest this individual," added Lewis.

PEI RCMP always ask the public to report any crime to police in your area, and you can always report anonymously by contacting Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
