Cocaine, Cash Seized After Fort Simpson RCMP Execute Search Warrant

Fort Simpson, NT, June 24th, 2024

On June 20th, 2024 as part of an ongoing Controlled Drugs and Substances Act investigation, Fort Simpson RCMP executed a search warrant on a residence in the community. 5 people were arrested at the residence. Over $3400 in cash, approximately 65 grams of suspected crack-cocaine and other drug trafficking paraphernalia were seized by police.

As a result of the investigation, all 5 arrested persons are facing charges.

23-year-old Faith Martel of K'atl'odeeche First Nation was charged with:

  • Failure to comply with release order conditions, contrary to section 145(5)(a) of the Criminal Code
  • Possession for the purpose of trafficking (cocaine), contrary to section 5(2) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act
  • Possession of property obtained by crime, contrary to section 354(1)(a) of the Criminal Code
  • Escape lawful custody, contrary to section 145(1) of the Criminal Code

54-year-old Carl Carpentier of Fort Simpson, 42-year-old Adrian Tambour of K'atl'odeeche First Nation, 36-year-old Deidra Villeneuve of Fort Simpson and 38-year-old Savy You of Ontario were charged with:

  • Possession for the purpose of trafficking (cocaine), contrary to section 5(2) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act
  • Possession of property obtained by crime, contrary to section 354(1)(a) of the Criminal Code

Villeneuve was released to appear in court at a later date. All others appeared before a Justice of the Peace and were remanded into custody.
