Update, September 5, 2024: Police are now releasing a picture of a 47-year-old man involved in the police operation in the community of Esgenoopetitj (Burnt Church) First Nation, near Neguac. Please continue to avoid the area. If you see him, call 911 immediately and do not approach.

The New Brunswick RCMP has issued an Alert Ready for the area of Esgenoopetitj (Burnt Church) First Nation, N.B., as police are searching for an armed individual.

The New Brunswick RCMP has issued an Alert Ready at 3: 59 p.m. on September 5, 2024, to advise residents of Esgenoopetitj (Burnt Church) First Nation, N.B., to remain inside, and others to avoid the area. A search is underway for an armed individual in the region.

Police are currently searching for a 47-year-old man, who is believed to be armed and dangerous. He is described as having dark hair, and was last seen wearing a gray jacket, jeans, a black winter hat, and was carrying a bag. He has a bandage and blood on his forehead. Last seen on Diggle Point Road travelling in a dark-coloured Hyundai Tucson with Nova Scotia's licence plate.

If you see this individual, do not approach him and call 911 immediately. Updates will be provided @RCMPNB on social media.
