A 40-year old woman from Notre-Dame, N.B., has died following a collision between a vehicle and a pedestrian in Notre-Dame, N.B.

On December 2, 2024, at approximately 12:39 p.m., members of the Richibucto RCMP detachment, Saint-Antoine Fire Department and Ambulance New Brunswick responded to a report of a collision involving a vehicle and a pedestrian on Route 115, in Notre-Dame.

The collision is believed to have occurred when the vehicle, travelling Northbound on Route 115, collided with the pedestrian, walking on the Southbound shoulder.

The pedestrian, a 40-year-old woman, died at the scene as a result of her injuries. The driver and sole occupant of the vehicle failed to remain at the scene of the collision, but was located and arrested a short time later.

A member of the New Brunswick Coroner's office and an RCMP Collision Reconstructionist also attended the scene and are assisting with the investigation. An autopsy is scheduled to determine the woman's exact cause of death.

Police are asking anyone that lives in the area and witnessed the collision, has security camera footage from the time of the incident, or has information regarding this incident to contact the Richibucto RCMP Detachment at 506-523-4611. The investigation is ongoing.
