RCMP quickly arrested two individuals, and charges have been laid against a 33-year-old man following a theft and failure to stop for police in Ludlow, N.B.
On December 7, 2024, at approximately 8:34 a.m., members of the Doaktown RCMP detachment responded to a report of a theft at a business on Route 8, in Boiestown, N.B.
When police arrived in the area, they located the suspect vehicle, occupied by two individuals. The suspect vehicle fled the area on Taxis River Road upon police activating their emergency equipment.
A short time later, the suspect vehicle was located travelling Northbound on Porter Cove Road. A member of the Doaktown RCMP successfully deployed a tire deflation device in Porter Cove, and police were able to immobilize the vehicle on Hwy 8 in Ludlow, after the suspect vehicle struck the police cruiser. No injuries were sustained during the incident.
The driver, a 33-year-old man from Boiestown, N.B., was arrested after attempting to flee the area on foot, and was taken into police custody. The passenger, a 38-year-old woman from Oromocto, N.B., was also arrested at the scene, and later released.
On December 10, 2024, 33-year-old Christian Scott Norrad appeared in Miramichi Provincial Court and was charged with:
- Assault peace officer with a weapon
- Flight from peace officer
- Dangerous operation of motor vehicle
- Mischief
- Resist arrest
- Theft
He was released on conditions, and is schedule to reappear in Miramichi Provincial Court on December 30, 2024.
The New Brunswick RCMP's Air Services assisted with the investigation.
