On September 14, 2023, Unity RCMP executed search warrants at two residences on Mirror Road in Macklin, SK as part of an ongoing drug trafficking investigation.
In one residence, officers located and seized two long guns and a prohibited magazine. In the other, officers located and seized five firearms – two handguns and three long guns.
Additionally, officers located and seized suspected cocaine, methamphetamine, psilocybin, unidentified pharmaceutical-style drugs, drug trafficking paraphernalia and cash at the residences. Officers are working on identifying the drugs and totalling the amounts, as there were a significant number of exhibits seized during the search warrant.
Two individuals were arrested at the residences.
53-year-old Craig Kostiuk from Macklin is charged with:
- two counts, possession for the purpose of trafficking, Section 5(2), Controlled Drugs and Substances Act;
- one count, possession, Section 4(1), Controlled Drugs and Substances Act;
- five counts, unlicensed possession of a firearm, Section 91(1), Criminal Code;
- two counts, unlicensed possession of a restricted firearm with ammunition, Section 95(b), Criminal Code;
- two counts, careless storage of a restricted firearm, Section 86(1), Criminal Code; and
- one count, unlawfully sell, transport, distribute or possess unstamped tobacco product, Section 121.1(1), Criminal Code.
36-year-old Janelle McCullough from Macklin is charged with:
- two counts, possession for the purpose of trafficking, Section 5(2), Controlled Drugs and Substances Act;
- two counts, possession, Section 4(1), Controlled Drugs and Substances Act;
- two counts, unlicensed possession of a firearm, Section 91(1), Criminal Code;
- one count, possession of a prohibited device, Section 91(2), Criminal Code; and
- one count, careless storage of a restricted firearm, Section 86(1), Criminal Code.
They are scheduled to appear in court in Unity on November 20, 2023.
Saskatchewan RCMP Police Dog Services, Luseland Police Department and Provost RCMP assisted in the execution of these search warrants.
