Update: Tisdale RCMP request assistance with identifying individuals revolved in theft of firearms

Since the report of the firearms theft on March 24, 2023, Tisdale RCMP have been working diligently to identify the persons responsible. Tisdale RCMP have received multiple tips from the public which contributed to officers being able to identify four individuals involved in the firearms theft.

As a result of investigation by Tisdale RCMP, officers have located and arrested three male youth. The youth are facing charges, some of which include:

  • Break and Enter with intent to Steal Firearm, Sec. 98(4) of the Criminal Code;
  • Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm, Sec. 92(3) of the Criminal Code; and
  • Possession of a weapon obtained by Crime, Sec. 96(2) of the Criminal Code.

The youth involved cannot be named or identified in accordance with the Youth Criminal Justice Act. One male youth made his first appearance in court in Melfort this morning. The other two youth are scheduled to appear in court on May 8, 2023, in Melfort.

Efforts to locate the fourth, and final, male youth involved in the theft of the firearms is ongoing. Officers continue to conduct proactive patrols in the community to help maintain safety and gather any additional information that may assist with furthering the investigation.

Backgrounder

2023-03-24

Tisdale RCMP are investigating the report of a theft from a local firearms store in Tisdale, SK, which was believed to have occurred earlier this morning at approximately 1:54 a.m.

Based on preliminary information gathered, officers determined three individuals wearing dark coloured clothing, appearing to be male in stature, broke into the establishment and stole between six to eight long-guns. At this time, police do not believe ammunition was stolen from the establishment. One individual was wearing a backpack on the front.

Through investigation, Tisdale RCMP identified the same individual wearing the backpack, was seen travelling in a silver Nissan Rogue at a local gas station at 1:49 a.m., minutes before the theft. Photos are attached.
