On December 13, 2023, at approximately 10:40 am, Ste Rose du Lac RCMP on patrol attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a vehicle on Ebb and Flow First Nation. The vehicle did not stop and fled from police.
The vehicle went off the road and attempted to hide in some brush off of Road 462, north of Plumas. Three suspects ran into the brush and hid. Two were located shortly thereafter and arrested, however the third was not located.
RCMP officers from Amaranth, Neepawa, the Crime Reduction Enforcement Support Unit and Police Dog Services, attended to assist. Police Service Dog Marook tracked the suspect into the woods where he was located hiding a short distance away. The suspect refused to comply with police commands and was apprehended with the assistance of Marook. A search of the suspect resulted in the seizure of a more than $4000.00 in cash.
A bag believed to belong to the suspects, was found near the vehicle and contained approximately 957 grams of methamphetamine, 223 grams of cocaine and 30 grams of crack cocaine.
A 22-year-old female is facing charges of Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking and Resisting Arrest. A 25-year-old male is facing charges of Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking x2 and Resisting Arrest. Both were released on conditions with an upcoming court date of February 27, 2024, in Dauphin.
Edward Sutherland, 33, has been charged with Flight from a Peace Officer, Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle, Resisting Arrest and Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking x2. He was remanded into custody.
