Update #1: Saskatchewan RCMP Major Crimes investigating suspicious death near Prince Albert

As a result of continued investigation by Saskatchewan RCMP Major Crimes, 40-year-old Justin Madden from Prince Albert is charged with one count, second degree murder, Section 235(1), Criminal Code in relation to the death of 78-year-old Frank Lund from Prince Albert.

Mr. Lund's family has been notified of his death and victim services have been offered to them.

Justin Madden is scheduled to appear in Prince Albert Provincial Court on June 6, 2023.

The victim and the accused are known to one another. Investigators don't believe there are other suspects at this time.

Saskatchewan RCMP Major Crimes investigating suspicious death near Prince Albert

On June 4, 2023 at approximately 2:30 p.m., Prince Albert RCMP received a request to conduct a welfare check on an adult male at a residence on Oxbow Street, just west of Prince Albert.

Responding officers located the male deceased inside the residence. His death was determined to be suspicious in nature and Saskatchewan RCMP Major Crimes took carriage of the investigation.

Saskatchewan RCMP Major Crimes is working with the Saskatchewan Coroners Service to conclusively identify the deceased. An autopsy is taking place to determine his cause of death.

A second adult male was arrested at the scene. Saskatchewan RCMP Major Crimes continues to investigate and updates, including any potential charges, will be provided when available.
