Battlefords RCMP hosting "fill-the-cruiser" food drive on December 9
Battlefords RCMP is calling on the community to help stock the Battlefords District Food and Resource Centre's shelves this holiday season.
Officers will be collecting donations for the food bank outside Wal-Mart on Carlton Trail, the Discover Co-op Food Store at the Territorial Place Mall and Sobeys on Territorial Drive from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, December 9. Look for the police vehicles with flashing lights.

Investigative Recap
November 26: At approximately 9:00 p.m., Pierceland RCMP responded to a drug trafficking call on Big Island Lake Cree Territory.
Officers located and seized a backpack containing approximately 73 grams of methamphetamine, 31 grams of crack cocaine, and a wallet containing identification cards. Officers identified the male the wallet belonged to, and as a result of investigation, arrested him without incident.
30-year-old Pierre George from Big Island Lake Cree Territory is charged with two counts, possession for the purpose of trafficking, Section 5(2), Controlled Drugs and Substances Act.
He was also charged in relation to an assault previously reported to Pierceland RCMP.
He is scheduled to appear in Meadow Lake Provincial Court on November 30.
November 27: Broadview RCMP investigating serious assault
November 27: On November 27, 2023 at approximately 4:50 a.m., Tisdale RCMP received a report of an armed individual at a residence on 104th Avenue in Tisdale. Tisdale RCMP, with the assistance of Saskatchewan RCMP's Critical Incident Response Team, responded.
Subsequent investigation determined the incident did not occur as described in the initial report to police. As a result, a 30-year-old female from Tisdale was charged with one count, public mischief, Section 140(2), Criminal Code. She is scheduled to appear in court in Tisdale on January 15, 2023.
November 29: Saskatchewan RCMP: Charges laid following sexual assault investigation
November 29: Saskatchewan RCMP's Warrant Enforcement and Suppression Team (WEST) was actively looking for 20-year-old Setharee Martel, who was wanted for failing to appear in court on break and enter and firearms charges related to an April incident on the Saulteaux First Nation.
As a result of continued investigation, on November 29, WEST determined Setharee Martel was in North Battleford and he was arrested without incident. Setharee Martel was scheduled to appear in North Battleford Provincial Court on November 30 (Information #90487185).
The Battlefords RCMP assisted in this investigation.
Background: The Saskatchewan Enforcement Response Team (SERT) consists of Saskatchewan RCMP's Crime Reduction Teams (CRT) and Warrant Enforcement Suppression Team (WEST), as well as the Saskatchewan Trafficking Response Team (STRT). SERT will help the Saskatchewan RCMP continue to fulfil its mandate as the province's police force – keeping our communities safe.

December 1: At approximately 4 p.m., Deschambault Lake RCMP received a report of a robbery that occurred in Deschambault Lake. Investigation determined an adult male approached a pedestrian and robbed them. Officers immediately responded and while investigating, received a report of a second robbery. Investigation determined two adult males assaulted an individual, then robbed them.
As a result of continued investigation, officers identified the suspects. One adult male was arrested in Deschambault Lake later that evening. Officers located and seized an illegally-modified firearm, a machete and other weapons at the residence, resulting in the arrest of another occupant of the house who was in breach of court-ordered conditions.
A male youth was also arrested at a residence in Deschambault Lake on December 3, 2023.
24-year-old Keith McCallum from Deschambault Lake is charged with:
- one count, robbery, Section 344, Criminal Code;
- one count, robbery with a weapon, Section 344(1)(b), Criminal Code;
- four counts, fail to comply with probation order, Section 733.1(1), Criminal Code;
- two counts, fail to comply with release order condition, Section 145(5)(a), Criminal Code.
He was also arrested on a warrant from Prince Albert Police Service.
A male youth from Deschambault Lake, who can't be identified as per the Youth Criminal Justice Act, is charged with:
- one count, robbery, Section 344, Criminal Code;
- one count, robbery with a weapon, Section 344(1)(b), Criminal Code;
- one count, fail to comply with probation order, Section 733.1(1), Criminal Code;
- one count, fail to comply with release order condition, Section 145(5)(a), Criminal Code.
30-year-old Earl Ballantyne from Deschambault Lake is charged with:
- one count, possession of a prohibited weapon. Section 91(3), Criminal Code;
- one count, fail to comply with release order condition. Section 145(5)(b), Criminal Code.
All three accused are scheduled to appear via phone in La Ronge Provincial Court on December 4, 2023.
December 2: At approximately 12:30 a.m., Pierceland RCMP officers conducted a proactive curfew check on an adult male on court-ordered conditions at a residence on Big Island Lake Cree Territory.
When officers were at the door they heard a female calling for help. Officers located an injured female inside the residence. She was taken to hospital with injuries described as serious.
Investigation determined she was held in the residence against her will and assaulted.
The adult male was arrested at the residence.
30-year-old Riley Kahpoonapit from Big Island Lake Cree Territory is charged with:
- one count, aggravated assault, Section 268(2), Criminal Code;
- one count, unlawful confinement, Section 279(2), Criminal Code;
- one count, utter threats, Section 264.1(1)(a), Criminal Code;
- one count, mischief under $5,000, Section 430(4), Criminal Code; and
- one count, fail to comply with release order condition, Section 145(5)(a), Criminal Code.
He is scheduled to appear in Meadow Lake Provincial Court on December 4, 2023.
