When Assistant Commissioner Rhonda Blackmore, the Commanding Officer of the Saskatchewan RCMP, appeared on a Regina's family's television one night, she caught the attention of six-year-old TJ.

"I asked Mom who was on the TV and what her job is and Mom said she helps keep Saskatchewan safe. She looked so cool and nice," said TJ.

After seeing A/Commr. Blackmore on television, TJ was fascinated with policing and decided that he wants to be a police officer one day.

"I think it's amazing for kids this age that are considering careers with the RCMP to see a woman in such a prominent position and doing such an amazing job. It kind of brings tears to my eyes," said Jolan, TJ's mom.

A/Commr. Blackmore heard about TJ's passion for policing and decided to meet with him at Saskatchewan RCMP Headquarters in Regina. During the visit, they spoke about his love for the RCMP and his future aspirations of becoming a police officer. A/Commr. Blackmore showed TJ some police stuff, including how the lights and sirens work in a police vehicle

Special Constable TJ was also presented with his very own Stetson, a handcuff key and a Commanding Officer Challenge Coin!

When asked, TJ said that the coolest thing about the RCMP is the number of jobs available and that you help keep people safe.

"I think TJ will make a great member one day, he's passionate about helping people and is eager to learn. He had some great questions for me. I look forward to seeing what the future brings with TJ and his journey to becoming a Mountie," said A/Commr. Rhonda Blackmore.
