Ross River RCMP continue to make attempts to locate Ramona Peter, who was reported missing on April 28, 2023. Since she was reported missing, police have followed up on several leads however Ramona remains missing.
Starting April 29, Ross River RCMP engaged with Yukon RCMP Police Dog Service (PDS) and with Yukon Search and Rescue (YSAR) for assistance in the investigation. The Yukon RCMP plane conducted aerial patrols on April 29, and a helicopter and crew were involved in an aerial search of the area around Ross River on April 30. Police have appreciated partnership and expertise provided by searchers associated with YSAR and community volunteers.
Ramona Peter is described as a First Nations woman, age 40, with long black hair and brown eyes. She is approximately 5 ft 6 in (168 cm) and 110 lbs. She was last seen wearing a long blue winter jacket.
Police with Ross River RCMP have spoken with a variety of witnesses and continue to follow up. Anyone who has seen or interacted with Ramona Peter since Sunday, April 21, 2023, is encouraged to contact their local police or, to remain anonymous, contact Crime Stoppers at 867-667-6715 or at www.crimestoppersyukon.ca.
