Two men, 46-year-old Keith White and 37-year-old Wade Smith, are charged with a number of criminal offences following a commercial break, enter and theft, which occurred shortly before midnight on June 8, 2023.
On June 8, 2023, Harbour Grace RCMP responded to multiple reports of a break and enter in progress at Honda Town on Water Street in Carbonear. The two suspects forced entry into the business by breaking a window, stole a small dirt bike from inside, loaded it into the back seat of a vehicle and fled the scene.
Police located the suspect vehicle in the area of Riverhead, Harbour Grace and conducted a traffic stop where the dirt bike, a red Honda CRF-50, was recovered and has since been returned to the business.
White and Smith were arrested at the traffic stop without incident. The two men are charged with break and enter, mischief, theft under $5000.00 and possession of stolen property. White was additionally charged under the Highway Traffic Act with altering or defacing a licence plate.
Both men were held in custody overnight and attended court on June 9, 2023.
This incident is the second break and enter this week at this location. On June 5, 2023, just before 3:00 a.m., suspects broke into the business and stole the same make and model dirt bike from inside. This bike has not yet been recovered.
The investigations are continuing.
