Five men and three women sentenced following drug trafficking investigation

Five men and three women have been sentenced following an ongoing drug trafficking investigation in the Moncton, Fredericton, and Woodstock areas.

In January 2019, the New Brunswick RCMP began J-Trilogy, a joint-forces operation to investigate illegal drug trafficking in the Moncton, Fredericton and Woodstock areas of the province. Members of the Fredericton Police Force and the Woodstock Police Force assisted with the operation.

On August 28, 2019, police executed search warrants at five residences on Dominion Street, Donovon Terrace and Lester Avenue in Moncton, as well as Homestead Road in Steeves Mountain and Cedar Circle in Douglas, in connection with the investigation.

As a result of the searches, police seized nearly 14 kilograms of methamphetamine and more than 900 grams of cocaine. Police also seized eight prohibited handguns, two restricted handguns, three non-restricted rifles, and nearly $40,000. Five men and three women, ranging in age from 17 to 49 years old were arrested during the searches.

Subsequent to the investigation and court proceedings, the following individuals have been sentenced:

  • On April 8, 2021, 30-year-old Jesse Logue of Fredericton, N.B., plead guilty to conspiracy to traffic methamphetamine and firearms related offences, and was sentenced to eight and a half years in prison.
  • On September 13, 2021, 33-year-old Scott Champion of Moncton, N.B., plead guilty to conspiracy to traffic methamphetamine, possession for the purpose of trafficking cocaine, and firearms related offences, and was sentenced to five years in prison.
  • On September 23, 2021, 30-year-old Monique Boyer of Fredericton, N.B., plead guilty to conspiracy to traffic methamphetamine as well as other charges resulting from a separate investigation, and was sentenced to 13 years in prison.
  • On October 8, 2021, 30-year-old Nicholas Cormier of Moncton, N.B., plead guilty to conspiracy to traffic cocaine and possession of proceeds of crime, and was sentenced to five years in prison.
  • On January 14, 2022, 31-year-old Claude Thibodeau of Moncton, N.B., plead guilty to trafficking methamphetamine, and was sentenced to one and a half years in jail.
  • On July 22, 2022, 32-year-old Janet Holmes of Perth-Andover, N.B., plead guilty to conspiracy to traffic methamphetamine and firearms related offences, and was sentenced to four years in prison.
  • On November 25, 2022, 24-year-old Emma Gilker of Moncton, N.B., plead guilty to conspiracy to traffic methamphetamine and possession for the purpose of trafficking cocaine, and was sentenced to three and a half years in prison.
  • On January 19, 2023, 52-year-old Leonard Bright of Fredericton, N.B., plead guilty to conspiracy to traffic methamphetamine, and was sentenced to two years in jail plus a day.
