Ferryland RCMP investigates break, enter and theft at Credit Union in Witless Bay, stolen excavator used

A pickup truck with a flat bed is extensively damaged by fire and is parked on a gravel surface. Two RCMP police vehicles are parked along a gravel road behind the truck.

Ferryland RCMP is investigating a break, enter and theft at the Community Credit Union in Witless Bay that occurred on May 14, 2023. A stolen excavator was used to break into the business and an ATM was stolen from inside.

At approximately 5:00 a.m. on Sunday morning, police received a report of an alarm sounding at the Community Credit Union in Witless Bay. An excavator and a pickup truck, both stolen from a nearby business, were used to commit the crime. The excavator caused extensive damages to the entrance of the business and the pickup truck was used to transport the stolen ATM.

This morning, the pickup truck was located burned out in a gravel pit off of the Holyrood Access Road.
