Earlier this afternoon, Carlyle RCMP located the suspect driver and the stolen vehicle at a residence near Carlyle, SK. The male was arrested and taken into custody without incident.
As a result of the investigation, 37-year-old Aaron Kenneth Olney has been charged with the following offences resulting from a report of an assault on January 3, 2023 near Langenburg, SK:
- Assault with a weapon S.267(a) CC
- Committing an assault carry a weapon S.267(a) CC
- Uttering threats to cause death S.264.1(1)(a) CC
- Possession of a firearm while prohibited S.117.01(3) CC
- Using a firearm while committing an indictable offence S.85(3) CC
- Pointing a firearm S.87(2) CC
- Possession of a weapon for the purpose of committing an offence S.88(2) CC
- Possession of a firearm knowing it was obtained by the commission of an offence S.96(2) CC
- Possession of a firearm knowing it was obtained by the commission of an offence S.96(2) CC
- Theft under $5000 S. 334(b) CC
- Theft of a motor vehicle S.333.1(1) CC
Aaron Kenneth Olney is scheduled to appear in court in Yorkton on Thursday, January 5, 2023.

Backgrounder
Esterhazy RCMP request to locate stolen vehicle with driver considered armed and dangerous

Earlier this morning at approximately 3:30 a.m., Esterhazy RCMP received the report of an assault at a residence north of Langenburg, SK. Officers responded immediately. Initial investigation determined the vehicle was stolen from the Langenburg and Esterhazy area following the commission of the violent offence.
The stolen vehicle is described as a dark blue coloured colored 2011 Chrysler 300 car with Manitoba license HLV 980. Initial investigation determined the car may be in an area Southeast of Carlyle, but the exact location and destination is unknown.
The vehicle is believed to be driven by one adult male who may be armed with firearms. If the vehicle is seen, do not approach. Report the sighting or information pertaining to possible locations of the stolen vehicle to police immediately.
Officers from Esterhazy, Carnduff and Carlyle RCMP are actively investigating. Officers are conducting proactive patrols in the area, obtaining witness statements, and following-up on information provided to police to help locate the vehicle and the suspect involved.
