On December 7, 2023 at approximately 1:30 p.m., Carrot River RCMP received a report of an attempted theft in Arborfield, SK.
Investigation determined the suspect attempted to steal fuel from a large fuel tank. He was confronted by a property representative. The suspect then began chasing the property representative in a vehicle. The property representative was not physically injured.
Officers located the suspect in a parked vehicle in Arborfield and approached it. The suspect then rammed two police vehicles and struck an unoccupied parked truck. The officers in the rammed police vehicles received minor injuries.
The vehicle came to a stop a short time later and the suspect was taken into custody. The suspect assaulted the officers while he was being arrested, and initially resisted when officers attempted to place him in cells. He refused to comply with a breath test officers demanded.
As a result of continued investigation, 29-year-old Tristan Edge from Fort Saskatchewan, AB is charged with:
- one count, assault peace officer, Section 270(2), Criminal Code;
- one count, fail to stop for peace officer, Section 320.17, Criminal Code;
- one count, fail to comply with breath test, Section 320.15(1), Criminal Code;
- one count, resist peace officer, Section 129(a), Criminal Code; and
- one count, operate a conveyance in a manner that was dangerous to the public, Section 320.13(1), Criminal Code.
He is scheduled to appear in Melfort Provincial Court on December 11, 2023.
