Update: Black Lake RCMP investigating report of seriously injured male

As a result of further investigation, Black Lake RCMP have identified and located one male suspect involved in the report of an injured male.

On July 13, 2023, at approximately 8:30 p.m., Black Lake RCMP arrested 30-year-old Brent Cook at a residence in Black Lake, SK. He was taken into custody and is facing the following charges:

  • Attempted murder with a firearm, contrary to Sec. 239(1)(a.1) of the Criminal Code;
  • Discharge a firearm with intent, contrary to Sec. 244(1) of the Criminal Code;
  • Aggravated assault, contrary to Sec. 268 of the Criminal Code;
  • Reckless discharge of a firearm, contrary to Sec. 244.1 of the Criminal Code; and
  • Unlawfully cause bodily harm, contrary to Sec. 269 of the Criminal Code.

Brent Cook is scheduled to appear in court in La Ronge Provincial Court on July 14, 2023, via telephone.

Black Lake RCMP investigating report of seriously injured male

On July 12, 2023 at approximately 3:40 a.m., Black Lake RCMP received a report of an injured person on Disain Road in Black Lake.

Investigation determined two individuals approached an adult male. A firearm was discharged and the male was injured. The male was taken to hospital with serious injuries.

Black Lake RCMP continue to investigate this incident and are working to locate and arrest the suspects.

The suspects are believed to be males. One was described as wearing a black hoodie and green pants. The other was wearing a black hoodie and beige pants. They were wearing their hoods up at the time of the incident.
