As a result of continued investigation by Saskatchewan RCMP Major Crimes and in consultation with Crown Prosecution, 41-year-old Edgar Lyle Kakakaway (senior) of Kamsack, SK, is charged with being an accessory after the fact to murder, section 240 of the Criminal Code.

He was arrested without incident on November 29, 2022, and has been remanded into custody to appear in Canora Provincial Court (via telephone) on Thursday, Dec. 1, 2022, at 9:30 a.m.

On November 22, 2022, Edgar Kakakaway Jr. was arrested without incident on Keeseekoose First Nation. Edgar Kakakaway Jr. is scheduled to appear in Kamsack Provincial Court on November 24, 2022.

Kamsack RCMP and the Saskatchewan RCMP Major Crimes Unit are asking the public to help locate 19-year-old Edgar Kakakaway Jr. from Keeseekoose First Nation, SK.

Edgar Kakakaway Jr. is wanted by police for his involvement in the murder of a 16-year-old man from Cote First Nation on Keeseekoose First Nation during the early morning hours of Saturday, November 19, 2022. A warrant for his arrest has been issued.

The investigation is ongoing and residents of Keeseekoose First Nation will notice an increased police presence in their community in the next few days.

Edgar Kakakaway Jr., from Keeseekoose First Nation, SK, has been charged with:

  • 2nd Degree Murder, Section 235(1) of the Criminal Code;
  • Assault Causing Bodily Harm, Section 267(b) of the Criminal Code;
  • Failing to comply with a condition of a release order, Section 145(5) of the Criminal Code.
