Summerside man sentenced to two years minus a day in jail for drug trafficking

A 49-year-old man from Summerside, PEI, has been sentenced to two years minus a day in jail following a drug trafficking investigation in the community.

On June 28, 2021, members of the Prince District Joint Forces Operation (JFO) Unit conducted a targeted traffic stop in Summerside as part of a drug investigation. A 49-year-old man was arrested at the scene. During the search of his vehicle, police seized quantities of cocaine, methamphetamine, hydromorphone, as well as weapons, money, and drug trafficking paraphernalia. He was remanded into custody pending a court appearance.

Christopher O'Halloran was subsequently charged, and was sentenced on April 4, 2022, for:

  • possession for the purpose of trafficking methamphetamine (24 months)
  • possession for the purpose of trafficking cocaine (24 months)
  • possession of hydromorphone (30 days)
  • driving while prohibited (6 months)
  • breaching a court order (60 days)

The sentences will be served concurrently. He was also ordered to forfeit money seized during the investigation, and was issued a three-year driving prohibition. Once released, he will not be allowed to own any weapons for life, and will be required to submit a DNA sample.

The Prince District JFO Drug Unit is comprised of members of the Prince District RCMP, Summerside Police Services, and Kensington Police Services.
