December 6: Traffic stop investigation leads to seizure of suspected methamphetamine and cocaine
December 7: At approximately 1:30 p.m., Waskesiu RCMP received a report of an assault with a weapon in Weyakwin. An adult male sustained serious but non-life-threatening injuries in the incident. At approximately 3 p.m, La Ronge RCMP received a report that a truck suspected to be connected to this assault was travelling into their detachment area. Officers began patrolling the area and at approximately 4 p.m., located the truck in La Ronge. They attempted a traffic stop. The truck did not stop and officers pursued it. A spike belt was set up at the intersection of Riese Drive and Highway #102. The truck drove over it and rammed into an unoccupied police vehicle, causing significant damage. The truck continued driving with a flat tire. Officers were able to manoeuvre the truck off the road and the driver was arrested without incident. One police officer reported non-life-threatening injuries from these events. Further investigation determined the truck had been reported as stolen from Sucker River on December 6, 2022.
As a result of investigation, John Sanderson, 34, of Bell's Point, is charged with:
- - one count, flight from police, Section 320.17, Criminal Code;
- - one count, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, Section 88(2), Criminal Code;
- - one count, possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000, Section 354(1)(a), Criminal Code;
- - one count, assault on police officer causing bodily harm, Section 270.01(2), Criminal Code;
- - one count, mischief over $5,000, Section 430(3), Criminal Code; and
- - one count, operation while impaired, Section 320.14(1)(a), Criminal Code.
Sanderson will appear in La Ronge Provincial Court on December 15, 2022 (Information 90472764).
December 6: Traffic stop investigation leads to seizure of suspected methamphetamine and cocaineMontreal Lake RCMP continue to investigate the assault in Weyakwin. December 8: At approximately 4:30 p.m., Nipawin RCMP received several reports of a robbery at a business on the 600 block of Nipawin Road East in Nipawin.
Initial investigation determined a masked male entered the business and pointed a firearm at occupants. The occupants secured the male and took the firearm from him. Nipawin RCMP arrived immediately and arrested the male without incident.
Robert McKay, 25, of Shoal Lake, is charged with:
- one count, robbery with firearm, Section 344, Criminal Code;
- one count, pointing a firearm, Section 87(2), Criminal Code;
- one count, wear a disguise with intent, Section 351(2), Criminal Code;
- one count, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, Section 88(2), Criminal Code;
- one count, possession of a weapon contrary to order, Section 117.01(3), Criminal Code;
- one count, possession of a restricted firearm/prohibited weapon without license/registration, Section 95(2), Criminal Code;
- one count, careless use of a firearm, Section 91(3), Criminal Code;
- one count, unauthorized possession of a firearm/prohibited weapon, Section 91(3), Criminal Code; and
- one count, fail to comply with probation order, Section 733.1(1), Criminal Code.
He is scheduled to appear in Melfort Provincial Court on Monday December 12, 2022
December 9: Male charged with attempted murder of Saskatchewan RCMP officers
December 9: At approximately 3:40 am, Greenwater RCMP were called to Archerwill for a break and enter at the gas station.
Police investigation determined four individuals stole a large quantity of alcohol and food. The four individuals were travelling in a blue four-door pickup truck believed to be a Ford F-150. The truck has been located later on the morning of December 9, 2022, on Kinistin Saulteaux Nation. The suspects are still at large.
- Suspect 1 wore a black hooded jacket, black pants and black boots.
- Suspect 2 wore a grey hooded sweater, black pants and white shoes.
- Suspect 3 wore a black baseball cap with a white symbol on the front, a dark green-grey jacket with fur on the hood, light pants and black boots.
- Suspect 4 wore a black baseball cap, black jacket, black pants and white running shoes.

December 9: At approximately 12:05 p.m., Maidstone RCMP received a report of a collision on Highway #17, approximately 10 kilometres north of Lloydminster. Initial investigation determined a northbound pickup truck and a southbound SUV collided. The driver of the SUV, a 20-year-old female from Tulliby Lake, AB, was declared deceased by EMS at the scene. Her family has been notified. The adult male driver of the pickup truck was taken to hospital with injuries described as serious. Highway #17 was closed for approximately nine hours for initial investigation. Maidstone RCMP continues to investigate with the assistance of a Saskatchewan RCMP Collision Reconstructionist.
December 10: At approximately 3:30 p.m., Shaunavon RCMP received a report of an armed robbery at a business in the Town of Eastend. An employee reported that a male filled up his vehicle with fuel, then attempted to leave without paying. The employee exited the business and the male pointed a firearm at him before fleeing the scene.
Shaunavon RCMP officers located the suspect vehicle at a residence a short time later in Eastend. With the assistance of a conservation officer with the Provincial Protective Services Branch, RCMP officers were able to get the suspect to exit the residence and he was arrested without incident. A rifle believed to be have been pointed at the victim and a semi-automatic firearm were recovered and seized by police at the time of the arrest.
38-year-old Adam Kormendy has been charged with a number of firearms-related offences, including: one count, robbery using a firearm, Section 344(1)(a.1), Criminal Code; one count, pointing a firearm, Section 87, Criminal Code; one count, possessing a weapon for a dangerous purpose, Section 88, Criminal Code; two counts, unauthorized possession of a firearm, Section 92(1), Criminal Code; and two counts, possession of a firearm contrary to a prohibition order, Section 117.01(3), Criminal Code. Kormendy will make his first appearance in Provincial Court in Swift Current on Thursday, December 15, 2022.
