Mooring Cove man charged with possession of weapon for dangerous purpose and uttering threats

This homemade weapon was located and seized by Burin Peninsula RCMP, following a search warrant on a Mooring Cove residence on February 5, 2022.

Thirty-five-year-old Adam Hillier of Mooring Cove was arrested by Burin Peninsula RCMP on February 5, 2022, after he allegedly threatened another man with a weapon.

At approximately 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, police received the report from a man who advised he was chased and threatened by Hillier, while Hillier was holding a sword. Threats were made to harm the man and burn down his property.

Police responded and arrested Hillier without incident. A search warrant was obtained and executed at Hillier's residence. Police located and seized a homemade sword, as well as another homemade weapon.

Hillier is charged with the following offences:

  • Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose
  • Uttering threats to cause death
  • Uttering threats to damage property

Hillier was held for a court appearance over the weekend and was released from custody on conditions.
