Lunenburg District RCMP charge two people in home invasion

Lunenburg District RCMP has charged two people after a home invasion in Lilydale.

On August 6, 2022, at approximately 5:30 p.m., Lunenburg District RCMP responded to a home invasion on Northwest Rd. in Lilydale. RCMP officers learned that two men had arrived at a home in a vehicle and attempted to assault a 41-year-old man. One of the men also produced a knife and threatened the victim with it. The victim was able to flee to another outbuilding on the property, and the two men left in their vehicle.

At approximately 8:50 p.m., while on patrol in the area, an RCMP officer observed the vehicle drive past him. The officer initiated a traffic stop on the vehicle and identified the two vehicle occupants as having been involved in the home invasion. Both men were safely arrested. The officer noted signs of impairment being displayed by the vehicle driver, a 42-year-old Lunenburg man, who provide a sample of breath into an Approved Screening Device. The result was a "fail" and the man was advised that he was also under arrest for Impaired Operation of a Conveyance. During a search of the vehicle, RCMP officers located knives, tools and Cannabis.

Both men were transported to the Bridgewater Detachment where they were held in custody. As part of the impaired driving investigation, the 42-year-old man provided samples of breath that registered 80mg%.

David MacPherson, 42, of Lunenburg, has been charged with the following:

  • Assault with a Weapon;
  • Impaired Operation of a Conveyance;
  • Impaired Operation of a Conveyance – 80mg% or more;
  • Breach of Probation

Bryce Brooks, 28, of Lunenburg, has been charged with the following:

  • Assault with a Weapon

Both MacPherson and Brooks were remanded into custody and appeared in Bridgewater Provincial Court on August 8, where they were released, by the court, on conditions.

MacPherson will return to Bridgewater Provincial Court on August 24, 2022 at 9:30 a.m.

Brooks will return to Bridgewater Provincial Court on September 28, 2022 at 9:30 a.m.
