A fifth man has been charged in the death of 18-year-old Joedin Leger of Moncton.
On July 6, 2022, 18-year-old Hayden Joseph James Leblanc was arrested in Moncton in connection with the investigation. On July 7, he appeared in Moncton Provincial Court and was charged with first degree murder.
The other four people charged with first degree murder in connection with Joedin Leger's death are 18-year-old Riley Robert Sheldon Philips, 20-year-old Hunter Nash England, 23-year-old Jerek John England, and a fourth 18-year-old man who cannot be named as he was a minor at the time of the incident. All four are of the Moncton area.
All five accused are remanded in custody. Hayden Joseph James Leblanc is scheduled to return to court on July 25.
The charges stem from an incident on April 25, 2022 at a home on Logan Lane in Moncton. Police responded to a report of shots fired, and found 18-year-old Joedin Leger suffering from gunshot wounds. He later died of his injuries.
