Sixth man charged in connection with homicide of Joedin Leger

A sixth man has been charged in the death of 18-year-old Joedin Leger, of Moncton.

On July 13, 2022, 24-year-old Nicholas Joseph James McAvoy, from Irishtown, was arrested in the community in connection with the investigation. On July 14, he appeared in Moncton Provincial Court by way of tele-remand and was charged with first degree murder. He was remanded into custody and is scheduled to return to court on July 25, at 11 a.m.

Five other individuals from the Moncton area were charged with first degree murder in connection with Joedin Leger's death:

All six accused are remanded into custody.

The charges stem from an incident on April 25, 2022 at a home on Logan Lane in Moncton. Police responded to a report of shots fired, and found 18-year-old Joedin Leger suffering from gunshot wounds. He later died of his injuries.

The investigation is continuing. Anyone who may have information regarding this matter is asked to contact the RCMP MCU or Crimestoppers.
