Stopped vehicle

A 52-year-old Caraquet woman is facing two court dates after being stopped for excessive speeding in Saint-Sauveur, N.B.

On November 12, 2021, at approximately 3:47 p.m., a member of the New Brunswick RCMP's Tactical Traffic Enforcement Unit stopped a vehicle on Route 160. The vehicle was registered traveling 151 km/h in a 80 km/h zone. Of particular concern, a young child was also in the vehicle at the time.

Further investigation by the member determined that the driver also had a suspended licence, and an endorsed warrant for arrest on an unrelated matter. The woman was arrested at the scene. She was later released on two appearance notices for Miramichi Provincial Court, one for driving while suspended, the other related to the warrant of arrest. She was also issued a $604.50 ticket for speeding more than 50 km/h over the speed limit.

The public has an important role to play in taking unsafe drivers off New Brunswick roads. If you see dangerous driving, or suspect an impaired driver, please call 9-1-1 as soon as you can do so in a safe manner. Providing as much information as possible regarding the vehicle, driver, location and direction of travel can help police better respond.
