On July 28, 2021, at approximately 2:00 am, Thompson RCMP, along with the RCMP Emergency Response Team and North District Crime Reduction Enforcement Support Team, executed two Controlled Drugs and Substances Act warrants at a residence on Arctic Drive and a residence on Duke Place in Thompson, Manitoba.

Upon police entry, two occupants inside the Duke Place residence locked themselves in the bathroom. When police gained entry to the bathroom, multiple empty plastic baggies were located. A further search of the residence yielded 24 pieces of crack cocaine.

Marlin Barrett, 28, and Damanie Simon, 26, both of Toronto, and Chevonne Merasty, 25, of Saskatoon, were arrested and are currently in RCMP custody. Barrett is on a condition to reside in Sudbury, Ontario, so is charged with Failing to Comply. All three are charged with Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking.
