RCMP MCU North lay charges in Estevan homicide investigation

As a result of extensive investigation by RCMP Major Crime Unit North, Estevan Police Service, Yorkton RCMP Forensic Identification Section, Airdrie RCMP General Investigation Sections and Calgary Police Service, Gurwinder Singh Toor (dob: 1980-03-30) from Estevan, SK is charged with one count of second degree murder section 235(1) of the Criminal Code in relation to the death of 55-year-old Angelo Galido. Mr. Galido was located deceased inside his residence in Estevan on June 7, 2021.

"The charges laid in this multi-jurisdictional file is the result of extensive collaboration between many police services and units – from the RCMP in two provinces, Estevan and Calgary Police Services," shares Supt. Vince Foy, Officer in Charge of Saskatchewan RCMP Major Crime Unit North. "When investigative files cross provincial borders, its through these critical collaborative efforts that an investigation comes together. The arrest and charges laid speaks to the extensive work of all involved partners bringing a multitude of experiences, tools and expertise. We thank them for their assistance."

Toor was located at a business on Barlow Trail in Calgary, Alberta on June 16, 2021 and arrested by police officers.

Toor and Mr. Galido were known to each other.

Our thoughts continue to be with Mr. Galido's family.

Toor appeared in court in Airdrie, Alberta on June 17, 2021. He will appear in Estevan Provincial Court on Monday June 21 at 9:30 a.m. via video.
