On December 24, 2021, at approximately 7:30 pm, RCMP responded to a report of a stolen vehicle from Gordon Avenue, in Lynn Lake. Police were advised that there was a rifle inside the vehicle when it was stolen.
Officers immediately began making patrols and were notified that the stolen vehicle was involved in a single vehicle collision on Highway 391 at the turn off to Black Sturgeon Falls.
Witnesses reported seeing a lone male with a firearm, running from the scene into the bushes.
Officers attended and located the male on the edge of the treeline. He was arrested without incident.
The firearm was not located at that time.
The following day, RCMP Police Service Dog Linkin, along with his handler, attended to search the area and located the firearm.
A 25-year-old male from Brochet has been charged with Refusal to Comply with a Demand(alcohol), Theft of a Motor Vehicle, Weapons Possession Contrary to Order, Possession of Weapon Obtained by Crime, Possession of Property Obtained by Crime, Possession of a Firearm when Possession is Unauthorized, Careless use of a Firearm and Unsafe Storage of a Firearm.
He was released on an Undertaking and is scheduled to appear in court on March 22, 2022.
