Charges laid after stolen property recovered

A 23-year-old male has been charged following a report of break and enter and theft in Yarmouth.

On February 18, Yarmouth District RCMP responded to a report of a break and enter on Regent St. There was damage to the victim's property and a number of items were reported stolen.

An investigation began with assistance from the South West Forensic Identification Services (FIS), the Yarmouth/Clare Street Crime Enforcement Unit (SCEU) and Yarmouth Town GIS. As part of the investigation, police executed a search warrant at a property on Regent St. in Yarmouth where a number of the stolen items were recovered. A man was arrested on scene without incident.

Nicholas Joseph Deveau of Yarmouth has been charged with of Possession of Property Obtained by Crime of more than $5,000 and Break and Enter. Deveau has been released from custody and is scheduled to appear in Yarmouth Provincial Court on March 22, 2021 at 9:30 a.m.

The investigation is ongoing. Yarmouth Town RCMP are asking residents to keep an eye out for suspicious activity around their property as well as the property of their neighbours. Residents can also help protect their property by double checking that their homes, vehicles and sheds are locked and valuables are stored out of sight.
