The name of a fallen New Brunswick RCMP police officer will be added to the RCMP's national cenotaph in Regina, SK.

Cst. Leo Tyler Francis was 32 years old when died on July 5, 1996 from injuries sustained in a motor vehicle crash while representing the RCMP at Pioneer Days in Oromocto, N.B. Due to an update in policy, his name is now being added to the national cenotaph at the RCMP training facility, Depot, during the RCMP National Memorial Service on September 8.

Members of the Francis family will be attending, including Cst. Francis' daughter, Sarah. She spoke about what this means to her.

"It's overwhelming, but in a positive way it, feels like it's full circle. My dad was 32 when he passed and that is the age I am now." she says. "Mom is really excited for me to be able to have this, to go out to Depot where Dad did his training."

Cst. Leo Tyler Francis will be the 240th name added to the RCMP Cenotaph.

The RCMP National Memorial Service takes place on Sunday, September 8, at 08:45 CST. It will be streamed on Facebook Live on the RCMP Depot Division page.
