2019 Gender and Harassment Advisory Committee Annual Report - L Division

Background

The L Division Gender and Harassment Advisory Committee (GHAC) has met on two occasions in 2018: February 13, 2018 and October 10, 2018.

Objective

The L Division GHAC identified education as its priority.

Current status

  • To increase inclusion and remove categorization of employees, name plates which adorn the walls in the Headquarters building no longer include category of employee or rank. All employees, regardless of category of employee (COE) or rank, are equally identified as belonging to the specific unit
  • Research done in relation to education and awareness for safe spaces and inclusion. See next steps.
  • Regarding harassment education, training was given to all COEs regarding respectful workplace; 30% of employees were trained. The presentation focused on the rights and responsibilities of all employees to ensure respectful workplace for all.
  • Mi'Kmaq Cultural competency training was given to all COEs (approximately 25%). The training was provided by the Mi'Kmaq Confederacy of PEI (MCPEI).
  • Participation and awareness was undertaken with PEI PRIDE.
