RCMP Head Quarters National Memorial
The RCMP HQ National Memorial honours those who have given their lives in the line of duty since the creation of the North-West Mounted Police in 1873.
The names of Regular Members, Special Constables and Auxiliary Constables who lost their lives in response to an operational policing duty, in which there was the element of life-threatening risk, are inscribed on the RCMP HQ National Memorial in Ottawa and the RCMP National Cenotaph in Regina.
The original statue of North-West Mounted Police Commissioner James Alexander Farquharson Macleod sits at Fort Calgary, Alberta; a replica was unveiled at Headquarters in Ottawa by Commissioner Zaccardelli on November 11, 2005.
