On Wednesday, March 17th, Queens district RCMP received a call of an erratic driver in Jonstons River heading towards Mount Stewart. An immediate patrol was made and the vehicle was eventually located on Route 2, in East Royalty. The driver, a 31 year-old Stratford man, showed signs of impairment. He was arrested at the scene and later provided samples of his breath which were over the legal limit. He will appear in court in April to answer to the charges.
This is the 5th impaired driver for Queens District in less than a week.
Police encourage the motoring public to report any possible impaired driver. It just may save a life.
Again, if you are having a few drinks, call a cab, call a friend or simply stay put. Impaired driving will cost you your licence for a year, a hefty fine and time in jail. It may even cost a life – it's just not worth the risk. Before you raise your hand to take a drink, or use drugs, make a plan – every time.
