Since May 29, 2018, three RCMP Detachments in Southern Saskatchewan have been investigating reported attempted child abductions. While investigators do not believe these reported incidents are related, Saskatchewan RCMP felt it important to ensure the public was aware of these reports and reinforce the importance of parents and guardians taking time to talk with their children about the following safety principals:
- Be aware of surroundings and note suspicious people or vehicles and report them promptly to teachers, parents or other trusted adults
- Listen to earbuds through one ear only, so you can hear traffic, people, dogs or any other potential hazards
- Do not approach a vehicle if you don't know the person inside
- Do not talk to strangers
- Have a friend walk with you if possible
- Stick to sidewalks along busy streets as opposed to cutting through alleys or parks
On May 31, 2018 at approximately 3:45 p.m. Carlyle RCMP received a report of two separate 10-year-old girls who had been approached by a man who offered them a ride. As a result of this report, Carlyle RCMP and RCMP Traffic Services immediately conducted extensive patrols of the areas and were unable to locate the vehicle or suspect male. Further investigation this morning has determined these incidents did not take place and the investigation has been concluded.

This incident was not reported to police and social media posts indicate the incident occurred on May 6, 2018. Investigators have located the girl and are actively investigating.
