RCMP Swift Current Plane Crash

At 7:30 p.m. on May 22, members from the Swift Current Rural Detachment were called to a field on the north side of the Trans Canada Highway, 4 kilometers west of Swift Current, for a report of a small plane crash. Swift Current Fire Department also attended the scene and plugged a small fuel leak, no other dangerous goods were observed.

A small Cessna passenger plane had gone down in field after using a grid road to take off. The plane clipped some trees and struck the ground about a kilometre and a half after leaving the ground.

There were two males in the plane who suffered only minor injuries from the crash.

The pilot and owner of the plane, Calvin Pahl has been charged with impaired operation of a plane and has been released from custody and he will appear in Swift Current Provincial court on June 27th.
