RCMP Traffic Services West arrests impaired driver in Stephenville

A 70-year-old man was arrested by RCMP Traffic Services West for impaired operation following a traffic stop this morning.

On January 23, 2025, at approximately 9:00 a.m., RCMP Traffic Services West conducted a traffic stop on Pleasant Ave in Stephenville. The driver of the vehicle showed signs of alcohol impairment and failed a roadside breath test. He was arrested for impaired driving.

At the detachment, the man provided further breath samples that were above the legal limit. He was released from custody to appear in court at a later date. His licence was suspended and vehicle seized and impounded.

Impaired operation of any motor vehicle is a choice that unnecessarily places the driver and all others who share the roadway at an increased level of risk. If you suspect an individual is driving while impaired, please immediately call your local police or 911 to make a report.
