On Jan. 30, 2025, Lloydminster RCMP's General Investigations Section, assisted by Lloydminster RCMP, seized a significant quantity of drugs and Canadian currency, following a recent investigation into drug trafficking in the community.
On Jan. 30, 2025, RCMP executed a search warrant at a residence in the area of 47 Street in Lloydminster, Sask. after reports of a possible illegal operation occurring at the residence.
RCMP seized an array of items, including:
- Approximately 500 grams of suspected cocaine
- Approximately 500 grams of suspected fentanyl
- Approximately 1 kilogram of methamphetamine
- Over $16,000 of Canadian currency
- A prohibited firearm
- Unstamped tobacco cigarettes
"This seizure represents a substantial disruption to the illicit drug trade in our community," said Cpl. Christopher Byford. "The presence of fentanyl in particular, poses a serious risk to public safety, and we remain committed to targeting those who traffic harmful substances."
A 63-year-old individual, a resident of Lloydminster, was charged with:
- Possession for the purposes of trafficking x 3 (cocaine, methamphetamine and fentanyl)
- Possession of proceeds of crime over $5000
- Unsafe storage of firearm
- Possession of cannabis
- Possession of tobacco not marked in the prescribed manner
- Unlawful possession of identity document
The individual was brought before a justice of the peace, where remanded with a court date of Jan. 31, 2025 at the Saskatchewan Court of Justice in North Battleford, Sask.
