On January 19, 2025 at approximately 5:00 a.m., Battlefords RCMP received a report of an armed robbery on 110th Street in North Battleford, SK.
Investigation determined two males approached a taxi cab on 110th Street, threatened the driver and stole the vehicle. The driver did not report physical injuries to police.
Shortly after receiving report of the incident, officers located the cab on Mosquito, Grizzly Bear's Head, Lean Man First Nation. The vehicle had been abandoned. Saskatchewan RCMP's Police Dog Services was engaged to assist in the search for the suspects.
As a result of continued investigation, a Saskatchewan RCMP police dog tracked the suspects to a residence on Mosquito, Grizzly Bear's Head, Lean Man First Nation. During the track, officers located a male walking through the snow. He was arrested at the scene. Officers located the second male inside the residence. The male resisted arrest and spat at one of the officers; however, officers were able to bring him safely into custody.
During subsequent investigation, officers located and seized bear spray in the abandoned taxi cab.
Resulting from further investigation, 18-year-old Tazer Mosquito from North Battleford is charged with:
- one count, robbery – with other offensive weapon, Section 344, Criminal Code;
- one count, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, Section 88(1), Criminal Code;
- one count, carrying concealed weapon, Section 90(1), Criminal Code; and
- one count, disguised with intent to commit offence, Section 351(2), Criminal Code.
A 17-year-old youth male from North Battleford is charged with:
- one count, robbery – with other offensive weapon, Section 344, Criminal Code;
- one count, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, Section 88(1), Criminal Code;
- one count, resist/obstruct peace officer, Section 129(a), Criminal Code;
- one count, assault on police officer, Section 270(2), Criminal Code;
- one count, carrying a concealed weapon, Section 90(1), Criminal Code; and
- three counts, fail to comply with release order condition, Section 145(5)(a), Criminal Code.
We are unable to identify the youth male as per the Youth Criminal Justice Act.
Tazer Mosquito and the youth male are scheduled to appear in North Battleford Provincial Court on January 22, 2025.
