Whitbourne RCMP investigates theft of copper wire at NL Hydro communication site near Long Harbour, seeks assistance identifying suspects

Whitbourne RCMP is investigating a break, enter and theft that occurred on December 8, 2024, at a NL Hydro communications site located on the Trans-Canada Highway near the turnoff to Long Harbour. A quantity of copper wire was stolen.

On December 10, 2024, police received the report of the crime. Surveillance footage shows three masked individuals who arrived at the scene in a SUV at approximately 3:30 a.m. on December 8. The suspects forced access inside the gated area and stole a quantity of copper wire.

The vehicle is described as being dark in color and with a burnt-out driver side tail light.

The investigation is continuing.
