Wetaskiwin RCMP Crime Reduction Unit recover stolen vehicle and make arrest

On July 22, 2024, the Wetaskiwin RCMP Crime Reduction Unit located a Ford F150 reported stolen from Edmonton.

While officers were covertly following the vehicle and attempting to coordinate its safe recovery, they observed a Wetaskiwin County Peace Officer attempt to conduct a traffic stop with the stolen truck. The vehicle subsequently fled at a high rate of speed. With the assistance of Camrose City Police, Leduc RCMP, and Maskwacis RCMP, the vehicle was found abandoned. A short time later, the suspect was located.

Wetaskiwin RCMP have charged a 28-year-old individual, a resident of Maskwacis, with:

  • Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,000
  • Flight from Police
  • Dangerous Operation of motor vehicle
  • Drive while unauthorized

The individual was taken before a justice of the peace and remanded into custody with a court date currently set for Jan. 24, 2025, at the Alberta Court of Justice in Wetaskiwin.
